In the merry, merry month of May...

May begins on Kwaj not much different than any other month, though the 'dry' season is beginning to taper off. It was an unusual dry season in which at least once or twice a week we'd get storms that rivaled a wet season downpour. At least it kept the lens wells replenished with fresh water.

Gonna be a busy month at Vets' Hall. This weekend the US Coast Guard cutter Jarvis (WHEC-725) pulls into Kwaj for weekend liberty and the retirement of one of their master chief petty officers. We're setting up a party at the hall Saturday with burgers and dogs on the grill and pulled BBQ pork and brisket cooked in the smoker. At least I'm working only half a day on Saturday (made up the time working through lunch during the week)!

This past Sunday we had Kwaj's Jimmy Buffett Parrothead party at Hamilton Beach next to the Yacht Club, complete with Landshark lager beer, margaritas and cheeseburgers in paradise! Of course, yours truly got goat-roped into working the grill cooking up burgers (which I didn't mind). Hot, nasty work, but a dip in the lagoon cooled me off. I was thoroughly exhausted so I cut out early (it's usually a long night partying).

Elections for next year's slate of officers at the American Legion post is coming up. I've been nominated for Post Adjutant (secretary).
