Eventually it was going to catch up to me, and Sunday morning it did. My bike was 'borrowed' (read: stolen) from my BQ. Pissed me off to no end.
Many times, some (Marshallese, but haoles will do it too) will seize a target of opportunity and jump on a bike, especially if they are running late to work or the ferry. Most times, the bike is left abandoned at the DSC bike racks, the airport terminal and Kwaj Lodge, but I wouldn't be surprised if my bike fell victim to a chop shop - there is an underground market for bike parts, since they're always in short supply. KPD, like many police departments doesn't have the manpower to chase down bike theft. My bike isn't too hard to find - it's got my Texas Wing Civil Air Patrol license plate. I'll keep checking the DSC and other places to see if it turns up before I fork over money for a new bike. Guess I learned my lesson - my bike is staying locked up whenever I'm not ridng it.
I know how you feel. My bike was stolen once when I was at school at the Jr/Sr High School. I was really pissed. Not to mention that I had an armful of books and a French Horn to carry home. I did find my bike on the way home. I found it at the what was known back then as the Ivy Movie Theater with the rear wheel bent in an "L" shape.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find it.
