Mid-October on the rock...

Back to writing in my blog after a few weeks... nothing much in earnest going on the island.

I was named to be the chairman of the Vets' Hall committee, replacing a long-time member who is PCSing next month. It's largely an oversight committee; we have a great bar and operations staff that keep the place going, and a dedicated cadre of members who do repairs to the hall donating their labor as needed.

Work-wise, my co-worker departed on his annual leave; he'll be back at the end of November. I'm in the process of revising and updating the department's drafting standards manual. Work is steady, and keeps me out of trouble.

Bought my freebie ticket (40,000 miles and $20 in taxes) on Continental for the Kwaj-Hono leg in March. Will be buying my ticket for my leg from Honolulu to Vegas more than likely in January. Hawaiian has the cheapest fare and it's nonstop to the 'ninth island' and back. I timed it so it's around the time of the CAP Pacific Region Staff College at Nellis AFB (I was a student there last year.) I'm applying for a staff position, either as a seminar leader or wherever else I can be placed. Then looking into the mid-October 2011 timeframe to attend the CAP National Staff College at Maxwell AFB in Alabama. With that and some paperwork and I should have all my requirements done for Level V of CAP's professional development program and the Gill Robb Wilson award.

Got rid of my old Kwaj bike and bought a new one. The old bike, being a men's model was difficult to get on and off from. (I was not blessed with long legs!) Finishing paying off my dentures (it'll be paid off in December) and my stateside car will also be paid off as well.
